Bridal Shower Game

We just held a wedding shower for my sister-in-law and her fiance'.  I made one of the games, based on the game my sister did at my baby shower over 5 years ago.  Think of it as a card matching game.

I got two posterboards (just enough room to make 24 "cards").  I wrote down sayings and things related to a wedding behind the cards.  I wasn't sure how many people would show up at the shower, so I tried to make it last as long as I could.

I wrote down things that were wedding related, and found candy prizes to go with each "match."  It's hard to explain without showing you, but here's the pictures so you get an idea.

The basic rules are that each guest gets one guess...they choose two numbers.  If they don't match, no prize, then the next person gets a turn. If they match, they get a prize according to what was behind the "card" and the next person gets a turn.  Keep going until all cards are matched.

Sorry it's blurry but I was working out how to randomize the "sayings" on the board.

The finished board.  Each color "card" is taped on the top, so that if someone makes a match, the card can be ripped off.

Here's an example of one of the "cards."  I wrote Bridal March behind one card and
you can see the prize -Symphony- written on the back of the card to help me remember
what prizes to give for that match.

Here's the game in action.

Influenster

If you want some really great freebies...I mean...like good quality samples...check out http://www.influenster.com !!!!

I've had a great experience with them, receiving the Mom VoxBox...great samples.  I received a set of press-on nails with the glue already on the nails.  Just peel and stick!  A full box of tea bags, a sampler set.  Honey crystals, Quaker oatmeal cookie, dish drying mat, etc.  There were quite several items!  Ya just need to review the items to keep on getting more samples, but it's still free!  I've gotten a couple extra items for free for just reviewing them.  When I reviewed the press-on nails, I received another set of those nails, AND peel and stick 3D nail polish designs!  Nice!

And they've just revamped their site...so there's MORE chances of receiving a VoxBox!!!!  Worth checking out!!!  Who doesn't like freebies?   That's crazy!

Homemade poptarts

For some reason, I had been wanting to make homemade poptarts...for the simplicity of the flavors, and freshness.  And much healthier than the storebought boxed kind!  And cheaper too!  Oh and it's so much yummier than the storebought stuff!

So I went online and googled for recipes.  I went with the one at Bake Me More.  I used the storebought pie crust (although the next time I'm definitely going to make my own crust).

I used three different fillings: apple butter, Nutella, and strawberry jam.  I think I like the strawberry jam the best.  Hubby liked the Nutella, and the little Junebug liked strawberry.

Just before baking.  Bottom left are apple butter. Bottom right is Nutella.  Top is strawberry.

After baking.  Needs some icing! :)

Trunk or Treat at Grove FBC

Bring your kids!  Get all dressed up in fun costumes!  Get a lot of candy and have a lot of FUN!!!!

Grove's First Baptist Church will be having a Trunk or Treat in the parking lot.  This is the safer version of going from house to house, trick or treating.  Church members will have their cars parked in a row, with the trunks decorated as if it was their porch.  The church members will also be handing out candy (each vehicle's trunk is like a "house").  Every year, it has always been a success, and we always have had a huge turnout.  So many kids with the cutest costumes!

There will be a bounce house, games, freshly popped popcorn, and of course candy and a lot of fun!  Oh and it's all FREE fun!

Location: Grove's First Baptist Church, 501 E. 13th St. Grove, OK parking lot
Date: October 31st
Time: 6-8pm
Contact: 918-786-4419 Ext. 0

If you want, you can pick up a bag of candy on your next shopping trip and donate it to the First Baptist Church for this event! :)

Fall Festival at Roberts' Farm

If you've never ridden on a hayride, roasted marshmallows to make s'mores...you're missing out!  Here's your chance!  If you have, then just come on over and join us for a lot of enjoyment and good fellowship!

Grove's First Baptist Church will be having a Fall Festival at Roberts' Farm on Sunday, October 16, 2011, from 6-8pm.

There'll be a bonfire and hayrides (the hayrides are a lot of fun, trust me)!

There'll be hotdogs, chili, fixin's for s'mores, and drinks provided!

All you need to do is to bring yourselves and a wire coat hanger to roast the hotdogs and marshmallows with!  Oh and bring a coat in case it gets chilly!  Maybe bring a few lawn chairs, just in case. :)

Directions to get there:  From Grove, go east out of Grove, towards MO state line.  On Hwy 25.  Turn right at 680 Rd.  Second house on the right (with the long driveway).  You'll see plenty of people there, and a bonfire.
